From the article: "The ritual observances of Lunar New Year run very deep. In Asia, the festival can last up to 10 days, although four or five days is more common. Houses are swept for good luck, packets of bright red paper are filled with money as gifts for close friends and family members, elaborate feasts and courtesy visits are arranged, new clothes are acquired, and auspicious poetry is traced in calligraphy on red banners and hung outside front doors."
